Imposter (2025)

This painting depicts a dimly lit room in which five facets of the same person coexist within their artistic process. It represents imposter syndrome and how each of these distinct personalities approaches the task in their own way.

The Superhero goes to superhuman lengths to convince himself he deserves success. The Perfectionist criticizes and questions every stroke. The Soloist believes he has to do everything on his own. The Expert, in the pose of the thinker, must know how to do everything so as not to feel like an impostor. The Natural Genius thinks that if something doesn’t go right the first time, it won’t work out; so, he gives up.
All of them share the same anxious, procrastinating mindset; as a result, they work at night, at the last minute.

The techniques used include acrylic paint, applied in a grisaille style with warm and cool tones; oil paint; and pencil drawn directly onto the gesso primer.
